You might find the standard enviroment to be a little lacking with the Asus EeePC, not to worry it is easy to enable the advanced desktop mode (KDE) within the Asus Eee PC.
Simply open a console by pressing ctrl+alt+t and use the following command in the terminal window:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kicker ksmserver
To set advanced mode to be the default desktop when you boot the computer up when you are in easy mode, Click on the settings tab and then the Personalization icon.
