EeePC videos

sg logo

So you have an EeePC and decided that playing with open office just wasn’t as fun as it used to be and need something to fill the void. Well you can sleep easy tonight because I spent my weekend testing a few titles on the EeePC to show how much grunt this little beast really has.

Sorry for some of the loading times, these tests where done over wireless.

  • Max Payne
  • Far Cry
  • Mugen
  • Call of Duty
  • AudioSurf
  • Super Mario 64
  • Peggle

Q: Why didn’t you use Fraps to record the videos?
A: Fraps is great, it’s fast, records to a number of formats and is perfect for my needs if I was not using the EeePC. The EeePC is a great device but like any other computer it needs to be powerful enough to #1 play the game and #2 handle recording / encoding at the same time, sadly this is not possible.

Far Cry

MUGEN

Call of Duty

AudioSurf

Peggle

Woah, thats impressive for a celeron powered laptop :o Funny that my IBM R31 is similar specs to a EeePC but this proves it s**ts all over it!

that is impressive. What specs are you running on your EEE. Please ellaborate a little more on your configuration please.

    Sure Sobabrat :)

    Windows XP
    Intel Celeron-M ULV 353 @ 900 MHz (100 MHz x 9) With EeeCTL
    2Gb Transcend DDR2 667 @ 200MHz 3-3-3-9
    No page file

Games where not super tweaked at all, simply set correct resolution of 800×480 where appropriate in configuration files.

I will be writing some more info soon regarding Far cry and Call of Duty.

Thanks alot, my EEE is in the mail and I should have it soon. Unfortunately I wont be installing windows on mine :) I am upgrading the ram though to 1gig. I also plan on using the EEEctl a bit although im new to overclocking. Any pointers for me?

Sounds good :) EeeCTL is a great piece of software… and is currently only available for windows. Apart from that things are looking great for the EeePC and many upcoming UMPC’s. they are small, affordable and will provide you with a mobile option for the software you need most but don’t feel the need to carry a normal laptop with you.

Linux offers a lot when it comes to gaming, so expect some more content targeted towards Linux users very soon.
