NES Arives

It has been 21 years since the Nintendo Entertainment System first launched in Australia. Considering I was born in 1987 the years passed and things progressed I almost missed the NES growing up but thankfully my next door neighbor owned one.

I would of been 3 or 4 years old when I first played Super Mario Brothers, addictive music, crisp visuals, stunning game play and probably the coolest babysitter of all time for rather then looking after me…..just let my mind turn into cheese, ok I lied they where a great babysitter but oh how I wanted to play the NES.

While I never owned a NES growing up I did have the chance to play though quite frequently at friends house so that was ok I guess….

Never mind all that, now is as good as any time or age to own a NES….So let the 8-bit gaming begin!

Otto Berkes’ views on the EeePC

sg logo

Otto Berkes, the man originaly behind Origami at Microsoft shares his views and ideas on the Asus EeePC.

The Eee adheres to some of the core tenets of the ultra-mobile PC – a low-cost, highly mobile, full-fidelity companion computer. In fact, the Eee PC hits one of the key UMPC targets dead on; there’s one place where all of the other UMPC products missed – price.

Otto does a fine job of summing up what many current and future UMPC owners are thinking when considering their options, products and range available on the market.

Grand Theft Auto 3

Today we take a look at Grand Theft Auto 3 on the Asus EeePC, a game much more suited for consoles in the past made it’s way to the PC platform during the year 2002.

Many gamers know this classic title and now you have the chance to play it almost anywhere.

Performance

Grand theft auto 3 runs very well on the EeePC. The frame rate is typically between 15-30fps solid or greater and is very playable. GTA3 sadly doesn’t feature a benchmark or time demo for more detailed results.

Tweaks

On startup GTA3 will display an error that it cannot find resolution 640×480 and will exit.

You can overcome this by connecting the EeePC to a external monitor, the game will launch perfectly and you will be able to set 800×480 resolution.
