In an effort to help people find the best netbook to meet their needs I’m starting a series of blog posts based on reader questions about netbooks. I also hope that this series can help existing netbook owners to expand their knowledge and make the most out of their netbooks. I already answer 4 – 5 emails a day helping people choose the right netbook, so I figured this would be a great way to help even more people with the answers I already provide via email. If you have a question about netbooks feel free to contact me and it may be featured on the blog. So without further ado, here is the first reader question:
Reader Question:
What the best netbook for games? – Charles in MI
Answer:
Hello Charles,
The most important thing to look for when you’re trying to find the best netbook for games is to buy one with an Nvidia ION chipset inside. To put it simply, the chipset allows the graphics load to be taken off the slow Intel Atom processor and placed on the Nvidia ION chipset which provides stellar graphics capabilities on a netbook. So what you’re left with are just a few models that have the Nvidia ION chipset inside which makes my choice of the HP Mini 311 the best netbook for games pretty easy:
The HP Mini 311 is $399.99 or $499.99 if you want a Windows 7 Home Premium
and has proven time and again that it can deliver a powerful gaming experience. See our past coverage on the HP Mini 311 here. Netbooks have come a long way and I still find it crazy to see a netbook playing Call of Duty 4.
Pick it up with Windows XP for $399.99 here. Windows 7 price options listed below:
