Phun – 2D physics sandbox

sg logo

If you have taken the plunge and modded your Asus Eee PC with a touch screen or have any UMPC/Tablet PC then this software is going to spark some major interest.

Download: http://www.phun.at

At heart Phun is a sandbox enviroment, the video demonstration will tell a 1000 more words then I ever could on this. Give it a try, regardless of if you have a tablet/touchscreen it is great.

EeePC videos

So you have an EeePC and decided that playing with open office just wasn’t as fun as it used to be and need something to fill the void. Well you can sleep easy tonight because I spent my weekend testing a few titles on the EeePC to show how much grunt this little beast really has.

Sorry for some of the loading times, these tests where done over wireless.

  • Max Payne
  • Far Cry
  • Mugen
  • Call of Duty

Grand Theft Auto 3

Today we take a look at Grand Theft Auto 3 on the Asus EeePC, a game much more suited for consoles in the past made it’s way to the PC platform during the year 2002.

Many gamers know this classic title and now you have the chance to play it almost anywhere.

Performance

Grand theft auto 3 runs very well on the EeePC. The frame rate is typically between 15-30fps solid or greater and is very playable. GTA3 sadly doesn’t feature a benchmark or time demo for more detailed results.

Tweaks

On startup GTA3 will display an error that it cannot find resolution 640×480 and will exit.

You can overcome this by connecting the EeePC to a external monitor, the game will launch perfectly and you will be able to set 800×480 resolution.

Quake 3

Performance

With a small ajustment to the config file Quake 3 runs flawlessly.
